Venetian Marble’s began in the Richmond area in the early 1970’s. In 1980, Lewis and Virginia Cash purchased the business where Virginia had worked for several years. Lewis left a 20-year career in the trucking industry to take over the daily operations of a manufacturing business that was just beginning to take off in the Richmond area. At that time, the business was primarily a manufacturer of cultured marble products sold to home builders and cabinet shops. New construction comprised about 90% of their work.
In 2005 Venetian Marble began remodeling bathrooms as more people started thinking about staying in their homes and aging in place. Homeowners prefer dealing with one company that can handle the total renovation including cabinetry, flooring, glass enclosures, etc. As a Class A Contractor we can handle projects from start to finish.
In 2008, Darla and Tom Skinner took over ownership from her parents and moved the business to Powhatan, VA. This allowed them to separate the manufacturing side of the business from the showroom and offices. Today our customers include homeowners, builders, cabinet shops and other remodeling contractors who call us to provide the showers and tub panels as well as vanity tops.
We realize that homeowners expect a high level of service when working in their home. It’s our practice to treat our customers’ property as if it were our own. We use our own installers for our cultured products who have been with the company for over 20 years. Customers repeatedly compliment our installers on their professionalism, the attention to detail and the high quality of their work.
In the last 13 years we have been fortunate to work for repeat customers who are downsizing or building first-floor additions to create a primary bath that will allow them to age in place. They often comment ‘you are still here’ – yes, Darla and Tom are still here running the business with the same attention to detail, the same desire to have their customers’ remodeling experience be stress free and as easy as possible.
